Dentists are required to complete 50 hours—about six days—of continuing education every 2 years for licensure. I choose to go well beyond this requirement by devoting 6 times the continuing education required for licensure. The advantage to our patients is better technical quality and an ability to see the “why” behind treatment recommendations. For each of the procedures I offer in my practice, I seek out the best educators in the field. After enhancing my knowledge of these techniques, I create systems and practice the techniques until my outcomes are predictable and superior. Experience and advanced training allows us help patients avoid unnecessary pain, inconvenience, and expense.
Many variables can affect the outcomes and longevities of dental procedures. By practicing preventive measures, we can increase success rates even for higher-risk patients.
I have always stand behind my work. If a procedure does not hold up as long as I think it should, I will replace it at no cost to the patient—regardless of what the insurance company says. For example, insurance companies pay for crowns to be replaced routinely after 5 years. I like to see my crowns last decades, and I seldom have to replace them sooner than that. This supports our philosophical stand and restores patients confidence in their care, and saves them money.
There are so many preventive things we can do to avoid disease, wear, and breakdown, based on an individual’s medical history, social and behavioral history, diet, and specific body chemistry. Listening to patients and noticing early signs of problems help me guide patients toward healthy practices and minimize the expense over a patient’s lifetime.
The smile is an important part of how we all communicate and express ourselves. An attractive smile can affect a person’s self image, confidence, and success personally and professionally. We’ll help you explore the possibilities. Thanks to recent advances in cosmetic dentistry, we can often provide conservative, noninvasive solutions at a low cost.
It all begins with a thorough exam and diagnosis to identify any disease processes or functional problems before starting treatment. You deserve to understand the difference between treatment that is needed for health and prevention, and elective cosmetic procedures. During your new patient exam, we can evaluate the esthetics of your smile and give you information about the range of possibilities that are appropriate for you—ranging from minor contouring and whitening to full-mouth rehabilitations.
